Part-time External PhD Research Student

My research is (mainly) in the field of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), with a working title of "Using Software Agents to Raise Awareness and Lower Information Overload in a Multi-user Collaborative Environment". I'm interested in how we can use computational assistance (autonomous software agents, machine learning, natural language processing) to help users of collaborative software systems handle information at scale, with the goal of finding better ways to achieve a balance between maintaining sufficient awareness of others' actions & output on the one hand and avoiding the negative effects of overexposure to information on the other.
